National Geographic: Symphony for Our World is a 90-minute, live performance that synchronizes the orchestra and choir with National Geographic natural history footage. Shows
- Nick Lowe’s “Quality Holiday Revue” with Los Straightjackets takes place at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Barrymore. Tickets are $25.
- StageQ’s “Christmas with the Crawfords” runs Dec. 5-20 at the Bartell. Tickets are $15-$20.
- Jonathan & Kitty’s Totally Secular Holiday Extravaganza with the Revivalists starts at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 11 at the Barrymore. Tickets are $20.
- “A Christmas Carol” runs Dec. 12-23 at the Overture Center. Tickets are $25-$49.
- “The Nutcracker” runs Dec. 13-27 at the Overture Center. Tickets are $14-$65.

- Magnet Holiday Party: Masqued in Mystery is held Dec. 4 at the Bayou. Tickets are $15-$35.

- Tudor Holiday Dinners with the Philharmonic Chorus of Madison take place Dec. 3-8 at the Memorial Union. Tickets are $47.50-$52.

Opera party
Sunday, November 8th, 2009I went to see the Madison Opera’s sold-out performance of Carmen Friday night at the Overture Center. Before the show, the Gialamas Co. played host to a pre-party for young professionals (about 30 people) on the second floor of the rotunda area. It was great to mingle with so many other YPs while enjoying some fabulous food and drinks. According to the Madison Opera executive director, opera has the youngest demographic of any of the performing arts.
I want to again express my appreciation to the Gialamas Co. for throwing such a fun event. And Carmen was fantastic, by the way. Too bad the Madison Opera only did two shows.
