Last year we saw the cancellation of all the Madison-area community festivals (featuring beer tents, live music and carnivals). Many held on as long as they could before pulling the plug.
Fortunately, public health officials in Dane County are easing their restrictions, with currently no limits on outdoor gatherings. However, we all know things can change, and I’ll keep this list of the summer festivals updated. Updated May 24.
Earlier this month, the National Restaurant Association released a study that revealed 17 percent of restaurants (110,000) in the country are closed permanently or long term. The Madison area has seen about 25 restaurants close permanently since the March 2020 shutdown (and about 31 all year). However, the number is not as high as you may think: (more…)
