Cooper Street Snacks

Cooper Street cookiesI was excited to accept an offer to try the line of twice-baked cookies and the line of granola bakes from Cooper Street Snacks, which focuses on using locally sourced fruits and ingredients.

Cooper Street was founded in 2011 in Michigan by Elaine Surnow, whose passion for baking started with a 100-year-old cookie recipe passed down from her grandmother. Her focus has been on creating delicious snacks that prioritize wholesome ingredients without compromising on taste.

The twice-baked cookies ($4.99 for a 5-oz. bag) are outstanding. They’re self-described as part cookie, part biscotti. I lean toward the latter because of the crunchy texture and buttery flavor.

Each serving of four cookies has 100 calories, 2 g. of protein, 15-17 g. of carbs and 4-5 g. of fat, depending on the variety. They are dairy-free and peanut-free but made in a facility that handles tree nuts.

  • The cherry white chip was a delight. The Michigan cherries had a nice tartness, and the chocolate had a complementary sweetness.
  • The flavor of orange and cranberry came in two parts. First, you get the zesty orange and then the wonderful dried Michigan cranberries.
  • The blueberry lemon was deliciously fragrant and reminded me of a tart or a scone.
  • I thought of the cinnamon chocolate chip as a crunchy, dunkable and yummy cookie.
  • The prevalence of the white chocolate chips took the brownie chocolate crunch up a notch.

Cooper Street granola bakesI also loved the granola bakes ($17.99 for a 12-pack). They’re soft and chewy without falling apart easily. The base is made of roasted pumpkin seeds, chia, golden flax seeds and quinoa.

Each bar has 110 calories, 2 g. of protein, 18-19 g. of carbs (2 g. of fiber) and 3 g. of fat. They are dairy-free, peanut-free and–unlike the cookies-tree nut-free.

  • Every bite of the oatmeal cranberry, which combined cranberries and white chocolate, was so enjoyable.
  • The blueberry pomegranate nailed the perfect amount of sweetness. In fact, I’m surprised that combo isn’t more prevalent in other products.
  • The Michigan cherries really shine in the cherry chocolate granola bake.
