With the cold weather months ahead, I was happy to accept an offer to try Pete the Cat’s Hot Cocoa by Jittery Joe’s.
For those not familiar with Pete the Cat, it is a cartoon character created by an artist named James Dean (not the actor). According to Dean, “After surfing, skateboarding, or building a snowman, Pete’s favorite way to enjoy a cup of cocoa is with marshmallows and his friend.”
The cocoa comes in an eye-catching 16-oz. can ($17.99), which I think is unique since most hot chocolate/cocoa seems to come in unadorned packets.
I really enjoyed Pete’s Hot Cocoa, which is made from 100% Ecuadorian natural cacao. You can use either water or milk to make it, and even with water, I thought the hot cocoa had an excellent chocolate flavor.
Of note, Jittery Joe’s, which was founded as a coffee shop in Athens, Ga., also has a large line of coffee, including Morning Ride Organic ($16.99), Terrapin Wake-N-Bake ($16.99) and Widespread Panic Up All Night ($18.99).
You can buy Pete the Cat’s Hot Cocoa on its website.
