I accepted an offer to try Säti Soda, a non-CBD version of the company’s soda line that was launched last year.
The goal of the founders was to create a soda free of the chemicals, artificial sweeteners and additives normally associated with traditional soda products.
“We wanted to disrupt the notion that soda has to be bad for you,” Founder and CEO David McLaughlin said in a statement. “We use organic ingredients so our sodas taste great without being sweet. We’re excited to be a part of the whole ‘better for you’ beverage movement and will continue to work diligently to meet the needs of our valued retail clients and their customers while always striving to live up to our mandate of being the country’s definitive organic soda company.”
The name Säti is a Buddhist term that refers to mindfulness. Each 12-oz. can ($36 for 12) has 40 calories and 9 g. of sugar.
I liked that the sodas were not as bitter or flavorless as sparkling water or overly sugary as traditional sodas. In fact, they had the right amount of sweetness from the organic cane sugar. Säti comes in three flavors, and I thought all of them were refreshing.
- The clarity lemon-lime had a slight resemblance to Sun Drop, which made me like it even more.
- In the same vein, the chill ginger flavor had some similarities to ginger ale but was a bit spicier.
- The energy berry was delightful and reminded me of Cherry 7-Up. It served as a perfect mixer with vodka.
Of note, Säti Soda is partnered with 1% For The Planet, donating 1% of all sales to Conscious Alliance, which provides healthy meals to underserved communities.
