Seminole Tap

Seminole TapFunk’s had a good run, lasting longer than its predecessors. It closed in early 2023 and was replaced by Seminole Tap, which for the most part, has kept the look and feel the same.

You’ll also find many of the same menu items as before, with a few differences. For example, street tacos are on the menu. I really enjoyed the Korean tacos ($8.50 for two). The pork belly was tender and topped with a tasty gochujang sauce, daikon radish and pickled onion. I wish the double-stacked corn tortillas weren’t so flimsy, as they fell apart immediately.

Learning my lesson, I had the flour tortillas with the cheesy birria tacos ($13). They were filled with yummy short ribs and accompanied with a wonderfully savory birria soup.

Many of the sides are different from what you’d expect at a bar and grill. I was disappointed with the Mexican street corn ($4), as it was quite soupy, meaning that they forgot to drain the water. Meanwhile, I loved the tomato soup ($4). It was creamy and thick, and it was topped with croutons and green onions. Other sides include potato pancakes ($3) and chili ($4).

The rest of the menu was fairly standard, with some hits and some misses. A popular appetizer is the giant Bavarian pretzel ($14). It’s pricey, not buttery nor salted, and it gets all of its flavor from the accompanying beer cheese or honey mustard.

Seminole TapI was disappointed by the wings ($8.95 for six, $12.95 for nine, $16.95 for 12). They were supposed to be tossed in their sauce but instead, they came naked with the sauce on the side. I would have preferred the wings to be breaded because they couldn’t hold any of the sauce. I got the garlic parmesan, which was very thin and not as tasty as I had hoped.

The Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich ($14.95) oddly comes with your choice of either barbecue sauce, buffalo sauce or spicy honey sauce. I got the spicy honey sauce, and it wasn’t spicy but did add a nice touch of sweetness to the sandwich.

What actually had some kick was the Seminole Spicy Smashed burger ($13.95), as it was loaded with jalapenos. It’s not a true smashburger, though, as the patty was of normal size. It’s still a good burger, but I had to remove the onions as they were undercooked.

Seminole Tap is open for lunch and dinner every day.
