I literally start every morning with a protein shake followed by a cup of coffee. Now I have the convenience of combining them into one beverage thanks to Chike Nutrition High Protein Coffee, which I accepted an offer to review.
Each two-scoop serving has 130 calories, 20 g. of protein, 4 g. of carbs and the equivalent caffeine of two shots of espresso. So if you need a pick-me-up in a hurry, then this is the way to do it.
I absolutely loved Chike. It tastes so much better than both standard iced coffee and whey protein shakes.
Besides the original, Chike comes in eight other flavors. They are sold in 14-serving bags ($34.95) or as single-serving packs (five for $14.95).
- The original tastes like espresso but a bit sweeter and without the bitterness.
- The caramel version is deliciously sweet, but amazingly it only has 1 g. of sugar.
- I thought the mocha was similar to the original flavor, with a hint of chocolate.
- The cinnamon added a spiced taste to the coffee, reminding me of chai.
Other flavors include chocolate peanut butter and sweet cream. Chike also makes a line of natural protein coffee and meal replacements.
In Madison, you can purchase Chike at the Hy-Vee in Fitchburg and the one on E. Washington Avenue.
