Just in time for Dry January, I accepted an offer to try non-alcoholic cocktails from Mocktail Club.
These beverages aren’t just free of alcohol. They also feature superfoods with antioxidants, and they contain prebiotics. Founder Pauline Idogho is a world traveler and shows off those experiences using global spices such as cardamom.
Mocktail Club has four varieties ($19.96 for a four-pack). Each 12-oz. can has 80-90 calories and 20-23 g. of carbs, and they are about 1/4 juice. They also are non-GMO certified, gluten-free and vegan.
I enjoyed each cocktail straight from the can, as they are lightly sparkling, but you can have them over ice or as part of another cocktail.
- The Manhattan Berry has a strong, immediate punch of ginger flavor, which is then followed up by the blackberry and pear shrub. It grows on you after the first few sips.
- The Capri Spritz is made of organic pomegranate juice, organic cranberry juice, agave, organic apple cider vinegar and lemongrass. The lemongrass brings a slight taste of ginger, and I appreciated that this cocktail wasn’t tart or overly sweet.
- The Havana Twist is a take on the mojito, but the lime, mint and cucumber reminded me of having a similar beverage at a spa after a message.
- The Bombay Fire was my favorite. It’s got chili peppers but isn’t spicy, per se; however, you do notice the heat. I also liked it for the pomegranate flavor.
Of note, Mocktail Club gives back 1% of all sales to Water For People, a global charity that provides free and clean drinking water worldwide.
You can buy Mocktail Club’s cocktails on its website.
