It was nice to see another brewpub, this one called The Borough Beer Co. & Kitchen, take the place of Rockhound after it closed. On top of that, the food is much better at Borough.
Let’s start with the salmon BLT Sandwich ($16), which was amazing. The herbed mayo brought a pleasant tanginess, the salmon was tender, and I enjoyed the buttery sourdough bread.
The Borough Burger ($16) is a delicious monstrosity. I loved every aspect of it–the juicy double beef patties, the perfectly cooked bacon, the aioli, the caramelized onions, the slab of Hook’s cheddar and the brioche bun. Have a second napkin ready.
Other handhelds include a Nashville hot chicken club ($16) and a peach butter grilled cheese ($12).
I wolfed down the street tacos, which were $3 each during happy hour. I had one with chicken and the other with carnitas, and both were tender and flavorful. Honestly, I probably could have eaten 6-8 in a single sitting. Borough also offers various house tacos (three per order) on its main menu.
The variety of appetizers was nice to see. The cauliflower wings ($15) have a good texture so that you don’t necessarily feel like you’re eating cauliflower, and the buffalo sauce has a welcome kick that really builds up over time. Another appetizer that’s good for sharing is the large Bavarian pretzel ($11), which comes with a tasty beer cheese dip.
I didn’t get to try any of the weekend brunch items, which included unique items like the roasted mushroom toast ($13) and the breakfast bread pudding ($15).
The Borough Beer Co. & Kitchen serves lunch and dinner Tuesday through Sunday and brunch on weekends.
