Old Trapper, maker of authentic handmade beef jerky, has come out with new deli-style beef sticks, and I accepted an offer to try them.
These beef sticks ($1.39) are huge, coming in at more than a foot in length and 1.75 oz. in weight. You can get them in three flavors:
- The original version had a tasty beefy flavor and would stand up to any other beef stick.
- I loved the teriyaki version, with the soy sauce flavor standing out while not being salty.
- I also enjoyed the jalapeno version, which should just be named “hot.” It doesn’t taste like jalapeno, but it does have some kick.
Each beef stick has 210-220 calories, 5 g. of carbs and 10-11 g. of protein.
For those not familiar, Old Trapper is based in Oregon and is the country’s second-largest beef jerky manufacturer. The company makes beef jerky in several flavors as well as 15 oz. bags of beef sticks.
In Madison, you can purchase Old Trapper products at Festival Foods, Target and Farm & Fleet.
