The Wisconsin Restaurant Association Education Foundation has a new food, wine and spirit tasting event called Indulge Milwaukee taking place noon-5 p.m. Aug. 20-21 at American Family Field in Milwaukee, and I accepted an invitation to attend.
Tickets cost $150. A VIP experience for $350 gets you exclusive tastings and drinks, as well as the opportunity to sit in the Brewers dugout. All proceeds go to the Wisconsin Restaurant Association Education Foundation, a charitable organization that provides education and training to current industry professionals and tomorrow’s future leaders.
“Indulge Milwaukee is a celebration of the region’s exceptional food scene,” WRA Education Foundation Executive Director Connie Fedor said. “Not only will people be treated to hundreds of culinary, wine and spirits tastings, they’ll also be supporting a great cause.”
Attendees will get to sample food from more than 30 Milwaukee restaurants, including Aria at Saint Kate, the Milwaukee Chophouse and the SafeHouse, in the Grand Tasting Area.
Meanwhile, the Proudly Wisconsin Cheese & Wine Pavilion will feature award-winning artisanal cheeses, charcuterie and wines from places such as Door Peninsula Wines & Spirits, Von Stiehl Winery and Three Lakes Winery.
I’m especially looking forward to watching the mixology demonstrations and trying spirits from Deep Eddy, High West and Rabbit Hole Distillery, among many others.
Of note, Master Sommelier Larry O’Brien of Jackson Family Wines will lead a tasting tour of mountain-grown cabernets from Napa, Sonoma and Mendocino on Saturday. Demos also will take place on Sunday.
Attendance is expected to be 2,000 each day.
