BeneBlends

BeneBlendsBeneBlends serves smoothies, bowls and juices on the far west side. While those items are normally not my cup of tea, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed everything I tried.

For example, the Blueberry Pie bowl ($12) was everything I could hope for and more. The base, which is a blend of banana, blueberries, oats, vanilla protein, cinnamon and almond milk, is delicious on its own. However, it’s further enhanced with chocolate cashew granola, dried mulberries and almond butter.  Nothing was excessive or unnecessary.

The same can be said about the Tropical Acai bowl ($12). I loved the fresh, diced pineapple and strawberries on top, though I wish there was more. The almond butter, maple oats granola and coconut flakes make for a wonderful mix.

Other bowls include the Orange Sherbert and the Pink Pitaya. For smoothies ($7 regular, $9 large), you’ll find an array of fun flavor combos.

I had the mint chocolate chip. I was thrilled by how many different flavors you can taste with each sip. I think I got banana first, then mint, then chocolate and then almond. It’s a refreshing smoothie that makes me think I’m actually eating ice cream.

BeneBlendsAmong the juices ($6), you won’t believe how bright in orange color the Tango Twist ($6) is, and the flavor matches the look. Turmeric is the first flavor you taste, and fortunately, it doesn’t overpower the zestiness of the orange, lemon and carrots.

One other item on the menu is protein balls. The PB Cinnamon protein ball (four for $5) was interesting. It’s a dense ball of peanut butter with cinnamon mixed into it. I enjoyed it, but it did make me thirsty. You also can get cashew cream and dark chocolate cashew cream protein balls.

BeneBlends is open every day.
