Lemon Haze IPA

Lemon Haze IPA

In celebration of National IPA Day, which occurs the first Thursday of every August, I accepted an offer to review Leinenkugel’s Lemon Haze IPA.

It’s the first national IPA for the brand, and it’s being launched alongside Session Helles and Blood Orange Cranberry Spritzen.

The Lemon Haze IPA (ABV 4.9%, IBU 40) works. The citrus flavor balances the bitterness of the American and German hops, and it’s less tart than Summer Shandy. As a result, you get a bright, refreshing drink that’s perfect for a backyard BBQ, tailgating and a day at the lake.

“It’s not a knock-your-socks-off-blow-out-the-bitterness-on-the-back-of-your-tongue IPA, where you can’t taste food for a day,” Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company President Dick Leinenkugel said in a blog post. “It’s going to deliver that great hop aroma, and you’ll pick up that lemon when you drink it.”

Leinenkugel’s Lemon Haze IPA is available year-round.
