GoSun Flatware

gosun-flatwareI actually bring silverware with my lunch to cut down on plastic usage, so I was definitely interested in accepting an offer to review GoSun Flatware. It’s a reusable utensil pack that fits easily into your pocket, purse or wallet.

A single cutlery set ($39) comes with a stainless steel fork and spoon (with a bit of serration on one side) in a compact case about the thickness of three credit cards. I found it intuitive to take the fork and spoon out of the case and then lengthen them by sliding the top part out until they clicked into place.

At full length, the fork and spoon are 5.5″ long, slightly shorter than the standard 7″, but I didn’t find it difficult or annoying at all to hold or use them, nor did they ever inadvertently unclick back to packing mode. I should mention that the spoon’s “knife” side is about the same as a butter knife, so don’t expect to cut steak with it. However, for most travel/picnic/tailgate items, you should be good to go.

Worth noting is that the average American throws away more than 300 plastic utensils every year. The utensils are easy to clean and dishwater safe.

You can order GoSun Flatware directly from its website.

By the way, GoSun primarily makes solar products. For example, its GoSun Go is a portable solar oven that can bake, roast, steam and boil.
