Adaptation is a key for the success of any business. In the restaurant world, we’ve seen pop-up versions of restaurants, the downtown streatery, cocktail to-go kits and now restaurants creating delivery-only offshoots known as ghost kitchens.
For example, Hooters has Hootie’s Burger Bar, Chuck E. Cheese has Pasqually’s Pizza and Chili’s has It’s Just Wings. All of these restaurants are virtual. For It’s Just Wings, you can only order from DoorDash.
Wings come in eight ($8), 11 ($8, boneless only), 16 ($16), 22 ($16, boneless only), 32 ($32) and 44 ($32, boneless only), and all orders come with curly fries and ranch sauce. The chicken by itself was tender and moist, right in the middle of the size scale between skimpy and meaty. On the other hand, most of the sauces were fairly weak in flavor.
- The Apple BBQ was slightly sweet, leaning more toward tangy.
- For the honey chipotle, if it were not for a parting hint of smokiness, you would not know this was chipotle.
- The truffle hot sauce hits you in two parts, a little sweet (like Sriracha sweet) at first, followed by a tiny kick after.
- You can definitely discern the citrus flavor in the ponzu sauce but not the garlic or sesame.
- The Southwest cajun dry rub was akin to Old Bay and not at all spicy.
- The spicy pineapple teriyaki was the spiciest of all the sauces I tried, but it’s still not that spicy. Not much pineapple flavor, either.
- The other sauces are Buffalo, Sante Fe and mango habenero.
The curly fries were decent, considering the travel time for delivery prevents them from top crispiness. They are less flavorful than Arby’s version.
You will find one other item on the menu, and that’s the Oreo County Fair cookie ($6). You get four deliciously deep-fried Oreos along with a decadent chocolate dipping sauce.
It’s Just Wings is currently open from 11 a.m. to 10:15 p.m. every day.
