Conrad’s Grill

20200422_122506Over the past few years, if you wanted things like fries stuffed into your sandwich/wrap/burrito, you could go to places like Fat Sandwich Company (now closed) and Burgrito’s (now closed). Next up to bat is Conrad’s Grill, located on State Street.

Wraps comprise the entire menu, and most of them include tater tots inside. For example, the Wake & Bac’n ($7.50) was loaded with egg and bacon crumbles plus tater tots, cheese and Sriracha sauce. That Sriracha sauce provides almost all the flavor to the concoction, which would have been better had the bacon been distributed better (instead of clumped at the bottom).

On the other hand, the Honey Mustard & BBQ crispy chicken wrap ($8) had almost too much bacon–is that allowed to be said? Definitely delicious with the sauces and cheddar and mozzarella cheeses, but the chicken tenders were not that crispy. In fact, neither was the tater tots, which were slightly soggy in all the wraps. I would recommend that Conrad’s cook the tater tots an extra five min. just ensure some level of crispiness when they go in the wraps.

20200422_120027I enjoyed the Luchador ($8.50) despite the steak needing to be more tender. The tater tots are soggy as mentioned, but the flavors were there thanks to the Sriracha, onions and jalapenos. Cheese steak ($8.50) and BBQ steak ($8.50) are the other versions.

The grilled chicken in the No. 1 grilled chicken wrap ($8) was very tasty.  The sour cream and ranch sauce actually complement, not overpower, the wrap. Nice and gooey from the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses, too. Other grilled chicken wraps include Sweet Thai ($8) and Spicy Chicken ($8).

Regarding the sides, the waffle fries ($3 small, $5 large) were just okay–no seasoning and a little under-cooked. Meanwhile, the French toast sticks (5 for $6, 6 for $9) were yummy, reminding me of churros at a fair.

Conrad’s Grill is typically open for dinner and late-night Tuesday-Sunday and lunch on Sundays.
