We sure like to celebrate the holidays here in town. Following is a guide to some upcoming holiday parties, shows, races and events in Madison, WI. Fortunately, many of the events that were held in November last year are now rightfully back in December this year.

Holiday Shows

• Tudor Holiday Dinners with the Philharmonic Chorus of Madison take place Dec. 4-8 at the Memorial Union. Tickets are $60-$80.
• “A Christmas Carol” runs Dec. 7-22 at the Overture Center. Tickets are $34-$65.
• The Capitol Christmas Pageant takes place Dec. 8 at the State Capitol. Free to attend.
• A Madison Symphony Christmas runs Dec. 13-15 at the Overture Center. Tickets are $19-$95.
• Gospel Carols takes place Dec. 20 at the Alliant Energy Center. Tickets are $20-$50.
• “The Nutcracker” runs Dec. 20-28 at the Overture Center. Tickets are $16-$65.
• “Guys on Ice” runs Dec. 26-Dec. 31 at the Barrymore. Tickets are $32.

Holiday Parties

• The Magnet Buoys and Bubbles Holiday Party is held Dec. 5 at the Edgewater. Tickets are $20-$39.99.
• The annual Children’s Holiday Party is held Dec. 8 at the Fitchburg Community Center. Free to attend.
• An Ugly Sweater Contest is held Dec. 10 at HopCat. Free to attend.
• The OPEN Annual Holiday Party is held Dec. 12 at the Century House. Free to attend.
• An Ugly Sweater Party is held Dec. 13 at Red Rock Saloon. Free to attend.
• Antlers Tavern’s Holiday Party is held Dec. 14. Free to attend.
• The Mad Men Holiday Soiree is held Dec. 14 at the Majestic. Tickets are $25.
• The SMB Madison Holiday Networking Extravaganza is held Dec. 18 at Old Sugar Distillery. Free to attend.
• The Downtowners’ Hark! The Holiday Happy Hour is held Dec. 19 at the Brink Lounge. Free to attend.
• An Ugly Holiday Sweater Party is held Dec. 20 at all Nitty Gritty locations. Free to attend.
• The 80s vs. 90s Christmas Sweater Ball is held Dec. 21 at the Majestic. Tickets are $5.

Holiday Races and Bar Crawls

• Run, Santa, Run 5K takes place Dec. 8 on the Capitol Square. Fee is $25-$45.
• The Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis is held Dec. 14 at Verona High School.
• JJO Santa Crawl starts at Whiskey Jacks on Dec. 14. Tickets cost $9.41.
• The Christmas Bar Crawl starts at Red Rock Saloon on Dec. 14. Tickets cost $20.

Other Holiday Events

• The Holiday Fantasy in Lights runs Nov. 9-Jan. 1 at Olin Park. Admission is free.
• Zoo Lights is held Nov. 29-Dec. 29 (Thursdays-Sundays) at Henry Vilas Zoo. Tickets cost $7-$25.
• The Verona Road Business Coalition’s Jingle and Mingle is held Dec. 7 at various businesses.
• Holiday Express runs Dec. 7-31 at Olbrich Gardens. Tickets are $3-$6.
• Christmas Brew ‘N View with the movies “Elf,” “Die Hard” and “Christmas Vacation” showing respectively Dec. 11, 19 and 21 at the Majestic. Tickets are $5.
• Breakfast with Santa takes place on Dec. 15 and 22 at Henry Vilas Zoo. Tickets cost $25-$45.
