Pizza and a movie? That’s the only reason why you would order from Marco’s Pizza, which has a partnership with Family Video.
With any purchase of $10 or more, you get a free, five-day new-release that you may pick up from the store or have delivered. Without that incentive, you probably wouldn’t be ordering from Marco’s, considering a better menu selection exists nearby (e.g. Pizza Hut, Papa John’s and Toppers are all within blocks of the Maple Grove Drive location).
For sure, avoid the cheezy bread ($5.49), which was shockingly bland. No salt, pepper, garlic, basil, oregano … nothing. And the bread itself wasn’t like the pizza crust; instead, it was more like white bread with melted cheese on top.
I had slightly better luck with the BBQ wings ($6.99 for eight, $10.99 for 14). They were on the small side but still tasty. You also have your choice of plain or hot.
Specialty pizzas include the chicken fresco ($16.99 for the large), which has grilled chicken, onions, bacon and sliced tomatoes, and the garden ($16.99 for the large), which has mushrooms, black olives, onions and sliced tomatoes. The deluxe uno ($16.99 for a large) was loaded with green peppers, mushrooms and onions but not much pepperoni or sausage. As a result, I wouldn’t order it again.
I also built my own pizza with pepperoni and bacon. The bacon was unevenly distributed on the pizza, but at least the pizza tasted good. You can enhance your pizza crust–I recommend either the Roma or the garlic crust.
You can find eight subs ($5.99 for 6″, $9.99 for 12″) on the menu. The Steak Bruno was fairly average. The bread (wheat or white) was slightly toasted, and you get lots of steak accompanied by mushrooms and cheese (I also added jalapenos), but I didn’t detect much flavor. Other choices include the Ham Leonardo (with tomatoes, provolone and red onion) and the Meatball Fabio.
The chef salad, featuring turkey, ham and provolone, also was average. At least you may customize the toppings. For example, I replaced the red onions with black olives. Still, this is not the place to get salads, unsurprisingly.
Marco’s Pizza is open for lunch and dinner every day and late-night Friday and Saturday.
