When you’re with a group, it can be hard to pick a pizza that everyone likes, because there’s always someone that wants plain cheese or wants to add pineapple or wants 13 toppings. Well, problem solved at Dells Pizza Lab in Wisconsin Dells.
This build-your-own pizza and salad restaurant opened in April. You follow a Subway-style assembly line in which you can customize your toppings.
To each his own: The 11″ pizzas ($8.79) can feed two people with small appetites or one person with a large appetite. The crust is slightly thinner than an average hand-tossed pizza, and each pizza takes about 5 min. to cook in the stone-hearth oven.
- The possibilities are endless. Sauces include spicy red and alfredo; cheeses include ricotta and feta; meats include chicken and meatballs; veggies include basil and jalapenos; and “drizzles” include chipotle ranch and Sriracha.
- It’s hard not to enjoy pizza that caters to your every whim. Thus, the spicy red-provolone-pepperoni-sausage-green pepper-mushroom-Sriracha (half)-garlic butter (other half) and the traditional red-mozzarella-chicken-bacon-BBQ sauce pizzas were both hits in my book. Toppings were generously loaded, too.
- You can use all the same ingredients to make your own salad ($8.79). Note: this salad is HUGE.
Let me be a conformist: If you don’t want to make your own, you may pick among three pre-made pizzas ($8.79) and salads ($8.79).
Dells Pizza Lab is open every day for lunch, dinner and carryout.
