I’ve always remembered my seventh-grade teacher saying that when she was a little girl, she and her family would go driving just to listen to the radio. That was during a time when radio featured actual programs, such as variety shows and detective stories, complete with sound effects.

Sunday, April 1st, 2018It’s amazing how many different diets–including Paleo, Atkins, Mediterranean and Keto–we have at our disposal. I myself have tried Tim Ferriss’ slow-carb diet, though I’m familiar with others. One thing is clear: there’s not a lot of consistency in terms of what you may or may not eat from one diet to another.

Book review: What a Swell Party it Was
Sunday, February 25th, 2018I am a big fan of supper clubs, and I would be even if I wasn’t a native of Wisconsin where they are relatively prevalent and part of our culture. I like the idea of people going to a restaurant and spending the entire night there not just for sustenance, but for social purposes. Today’s supper clubs are the closest I’ll ever get to experiencing the nightclubs of the 1920s through the 1940s where dining and live entertainment were mixed every night–think Rick’s Cafe Americain in the movie, “Casablanca.” (more…)
