New eating challenge

Monday, August 24th, 2009

I’ve been intrigued by the thought of trying the Big Fat Ugly challenge at Fat Sandwich Company, which just opened up on State Street. For $25, you get a football-sized sandwich that consists of two rolls, four cheeseburgers, a double cheesesteak, a chicken cheesesteak, gyro meat, grilled chicken, bacon, sausage, mozzarella sticks, chicken fingers, chicken nuggets, mac n cheese bites, fried mushrooms, jalapeño poppers, pizza bites, onion rings, hash browns, American cheese, mayo, and ketchup. Eat this six pound monster in less than 15 minutes and your sandwich is free.

First, I think 15 min. is impossible. You couldn’t even blend this sandwich and drink it in that time.

Second, it’s a pretty funny sandwich. The creators must’ve just looked at some random restaurant menu and picked every appetizer and sandwich they saw.

I’ll let you know if and when I attempt this.

Take advantage of restaurants

Friday, April 17th, 2009

Many higher end restaurants are feeling the recession, especially as diners gravitate toward more medium- to lower-priced restaurants.  That’s why several restaurants have added prix-fixe menus and other specials they would never offer otherwise. Examples:
1) Fleming’s added a $35.95 prix-fixe menu
2) Johnny Delmonico’s added lunch
3) Claddagh’s added a $59.99 dinner-for-two special
4) Ruth’s Chris added a $39.95 prix-fixe menu

And the list goes on. If you’re still going out to eat, I recommend taking advantage of these great deals while the economy is still bad!
